Refugee Action York runs entirely on funding from organisations and from personal donations. Without your donations and the help of our volunteers we would not be able to create a safe environment for vulnerable people in York and the surrounding areas. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped support Refugee Action York over the years.

If you would like to support the work of RAY, there are several options:

Fancy doing a sponsored run, cycle or climb? Or maybe you’d like to host a coffee morning, games night or movie marathon to raise money for RAY.

It’s easy to set up a fundraiser and link it to our Just Giving page. If you need any help, just email our office manager at meg@refugeeactionyork.com or phone on 07510544692.

If you pay tax in the UK, you can provide RAY with additional income from HMRC by completing a Gift Aid form and returning it by email to meg@refugeeactionyork.com or by post to RAY (Refugee Action York), c/o Clifton Children’s Centre, Kingsway North, Clifton, York, YO30 6JA.

Your donations make a huge impact in allowing us to make sure that RAY is going to be able to keep going and keep growing!

This is how regular donations will help -

  • £10 could pay for a birthday gift for a refugee or asylum seeking child.

  • £15 could pay for a family to attend RAY’s Sunday Hub session, where children can learn mother tongue Arabic, Ukrainian or Turkish, as well as enjoying games and activities; adults can get information or advice about anything they need, such as immigration, housing issues, debt, domestic violence, or other queries they have; and the family can enjoy a shared meal with others, including volunteers & staff.

  • £25 could pay for one child to attend RAY’s youth group for a month, giving them time to relax, see their friends and take part in different activities including sports, games and crafts. The youth group decreases isolation amongst young refugees and migrants in York, increases their confidence, and encourages a positive sense of dual identity.

  • £30 could pay for shoes for a service user or school uniform for a child.

  • £40 could pay for an asylum seeker to attend an appointment with a specialist immigration solicitor.

  • £60 could pay for the running costs of one of our weekly coffee mornings where volunteers participate in conversational English lessons with our service users and service users can meet with a project worker to discuss individual issues they are having.

  • £200-300 could pay for a special day out for our youth group.

HARDSHIP FUND

We especially rely on individual donations to keep our Hardship Fund running. This money is used to support destitute individuals and families. Any donations you give are greatly appreciated and can go towards:

  • Basic necessities, such as food and clothing, for families who are destitute or in crisis.

  • Fares to enable people to access legal representation.

  • Fares to and from reporting and detention centres, where families often have to report at short notice

 CLOTHING & HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

We are currently collecting pushchairs and suitcases for a large group of people who are seeking asylum in the UK and who have recently arrived in York. If you have pushchairs or suitcases please contact cassia@refugeeactionyork.com.

Unfortunately we are unable to accept donations of any other clothing, furniture or household items as we do not currently have any storage facilities.

Other organisations you may like to contact are: York Community Furniture Store; St Leonard’s Hospice Furniture Shop; York City of Sanctuary, who take donations to refugees in need in other cities; Yorkshire Aid, who take donations to asylum seekers and refugees in Leeds, Calais and Greece
