Mission and Values
The mission of Refugee action York is:
To provide a safe and welcoming space in York where refugees, asylum seekers and migrants can access practical support, information, and guidance in order to relieve hardship, reduce isolation and advance education
To proactively work with a range of agencies and providers to help identify and meet the needs of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants
To encourage the involvement of service users in decision making about the services they receive
To improve the integration and reduce isolation of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants through the development of a network of volunteers
To raise awareness of the positive role which refugees, asylum seekers and migrants play, and the contribution they make to local and regional communities

Welcoming - we provide a welcoming environment to refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in the City of York, no matter who they are or the journey they’ve been on
Empowering - refugees, asylum seekers and migrants to build safe and fulfilling lives
Advocating - for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants to have fair and equal access to all appropriate services without being disadvantaged by their immigration status or language
Responsive - able to adapt to the changing needs of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants and the external environment
RAY is regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC), registration number N202432082, and as such meets the Commissioner’s Code of Standards.
