There are several ways in which a volunteer can help Refugee Action York.
We need volunteers to:
• Support adults in English language and conversation- each service user’s ability can range from beginner to advanced level.
• Support children aged 3 – 14, either leading or helping with various activities such as football, arts and crafts and Turkish dancing.
• Support the Turkish teacher, in a Teaching Assistant role, in the children’s Turkish lessons
• Offer homework support to a child or young person one evening per week
• Help with transport for families to and from the Drop In
• Collect donated food from the City Centre on a Saturday night or early Sunday morning, and deliver to the Drop In session after 12.30 on Sunday
• Serve tea and coffee from the kitchen, lay out food donations for shared meal, and clear up
• Welcome people at reception, sign them in, and out again on departure
