An induction session will be run once a month, during the Drop In from 1-3pm. All new volunteers will need to complete an induction session before they can start volunteering. However, as the sessions will be run monthly, potential volunteers will not have to wait too long to start. The volunteers attending each induction day will then be encouraged to stay in contact with one another, and form a “peer support” group.
We will hold regular volunteers meetings once every half term. At each of the volunteer meetings there will be a 20 minute training session, covering subjects such as confidentiality, communication, Health and Safety, Child Protection, Turkish/Kurdish culture and customs, your role as a volunteer, and more. All volunteers will be expected to attend each volunteer meeting, and therefore over the course of the year they should have attended each training session. At each meeting volunteers will have at least 15 minutes to meet in their peer support groups to offer each other peer support.
